Obedience Classes will be held at Top Dog LTD's indoor

First
Night - Please Don't bring your dog. This is a 2 hour orientation,
demonstration and registration. You may pre-register by mail. You
are invited to attend this session at no cost or obligation. Both
classes, basic and puppy, will meet at 7:00 p.m. for this first
session. A free 8 Ib. bag of premium pet food will be given to each
class participant.
Basic
Obedience Class - This class is for dogs 6 months of age
or older (A dog is never too old to learn) During class, your dog
will learn to walk under control on lead - this includes left turns,
right turns, about turns, slow pace, fast pace and being attentive.
Also taught are the sit/stay and down/stay for at least three minutes
with distractions and most important - come when called.
Puppy
class is for puppies 8 weeks to 6 months. This class is
similar to basic class, however, attention skills are shorter and
all of the exercises are taught with mild distractions. The puppy
class also provides socialization skills. Extra emphasis is placed
on house breaking, grooming, nutrition, socialization and proper
pet care. This critical time in a dog's life allows us to train
proper behavior before the dog acquires bad habits.
Equipment - Proper equipment is essential. Basic class uses a special 30"
flat braided leash, a proper fitting chain training collar, and
a 6 foot leather or nylon lead. Puppy class uses either a special
6 foot leather slip lead or a 6 foot leather leash with a proper
fitting chain training collar. For the chain training collar, you
will need to measure your dog's neck and bring the measurement to
the first session.
Time
- First session (Orientation) is at 7:00 p.m. for both the basic
and puppy classes. Do not bring your dog to orientation.
All remaining session times will be announced at the first session.
Approximately 6:00 p.m. for the puppy class and 7:30 for the basic
class. Sessions 2 through 6 will last approximately one hour each.
Cost
of Course $95.00 for the six week course is payable with
registration. Refunds will be made upon request, for any reason
throughout the end of the first session (orientation) ONLY!
All dogs eight weeks of age or older, purebred or mixed are welcome
to join our next training session. The step-by-step method we use
in teaching you to train your dog does require that you work with
your dog on a daily basis between training classes. We recommend
at least 20-30 minutes each day for the basic class and 5-15 minutes
each day for the puppy class. Each lesson should be followed by
a 5-10 minute play session.
